Roof repair in Tulsa
Most roof problems start small: a few shingles gone after a windy night, a pipe boot that cracked in the sun, flashing that lifted at a chimney. Fixed early, they stay small. Tell us what you are seeing and a local roofing contractor calls you back.

What usually needs repair
- Missing or creased shingles. Thunderstorm wind was reported on 269 days in Tulsa County from 1996 to 2025. A gust that lifts a tab can break the seal strip even if the shingle stays on, and a creased shingle leaks later.
- Flashing. The metal where the roof meets a wall, chimney or skylight. When it lifts or its sealant cracks, water runs behind it.
- Pipe boots and vents. The rubber collar around a plumbing vent dries out and splits. It is one of the cheapest fixes on a roof and one of the most common leaks.
- Hail bruises and dents. Soft spots in the shingle where the granules were knocked loose, and dents in vents and gutters. Hail damage, explained.
- Soft decking. A spongy feel underfoot means water has been getting into the wood. That part of the repair is priced per sheet.

A repair on a roof that is otherwise sound is almost always worth doing. The question changes when the roof is near the end of its life or the damage is spread across many slopes. Repair or replace.
Before the roofer comes
- Take photos from the ground and in the attic. Do not climb onto a wet or damaged roof.
- Note the date of the storm, if there was one. The Oklahoma Insurance Department advises taking photos or video of the damage, making temporary repairs, saving all receipts, and not making permanent repairs until your insurer has inspected.
- Find your policy's declarations page. If you might file a claim, the deductible decides whether it is worth it. If the damage is below or slightly above your deductible, the Oklahoma Insurance Department says you may want to pay for the repairs rather than file a claim.
What to ask
- What failed, and can you show me a photo of it?
- Is this a repair, or is the roof at the point where a repair will not hold?
- What is your Oklahoma Construction Industries Board registration number? (How to check it.)
- What warranty covers the repair, in writing?
Questions Tulsa homeowners ask
Can you repair just part of a roof?
Yes. Most repairs replace only the damaged shingles, flashing or boots. Matching can be an issue on an older roof, since shingle colors and lines get discontinued. Ask the roofer how close the match will be.
Will a few missing shingles cause a leak?
Often, yes, especially in a wind-driven rain. The underlayment is a backup, not a roof. Get missing shingles replaced soon after the storm.
Does insurance pay for roof repairs?
It can, if the damage came from a covered event such as hail or wind, and the repair costs more than your deductible. Wear and tear is generally not covered.
